Welcome to GMUN India 2026

Nayonikaa Singhaal, Secretary-General of Yashmay-Alma GMUN India 2026, at the United Nations General Assembly podium

Nayonikaa Singhaal

Secretary-General · GMUN India 2026

Dear Delegates,

Welcome to GMUN India 2026!

For many of us, Model UN starts as a conference, but somewhere along the way it becomes much more than that. It becomes late-night resolution writing, friendships across countries, debates that continue long after committee ends, and moments that genuinely change the way we see the world. That is what I hope this conference will be for all of you.

India is a place of contradictions, energy, history, and constant movement, and I cannot think of a better setting for conversations about the future of our world. Over the course of this conference, you will challenge ideas, defend perspectives you may not personally agree with, negotiate under pressure, and hopefully leave with a deeper understanding of people beyond your own experiences.

Whether this is your first conference or your fiftieth, I encourage you to speak boldly, stay curious, and allow yourself to learn from the people around you. I am incredibly excited to welcome you all to GMUN India 2026, and I cannot wait to see the ideas and energy you bring to committee.

See you in India!

Nayonikaa Singhaal

Secretary-General · GMUN India 2026

The Mentor Team

From Alma College, Michigan

Six undergraduate mentors from Alma College’s Model UN programme will be on the ground at Yashmay to chair committees, brief delegates, and run the conference floor — the same diplomats who represent Alma at NMUN New York and St. Louis.

JB

JJ Bizon

Mentor · Alma College MUN

Hi, my name is JJ. I am going into my sophomore year at Alma College intending to major in history and political science, and just finished my first year of MUN working on GA4 and NPT. Participating in MUN has helped me develop my research, public-speaking and critical-thinking skills. I am involved with several organisations on campus including the Delta Gamma Tau Fraternity, Kiltie Wind Ensemble, Alma College Jazz Ensemble, the history club, and of course MUN. In my free time I love to read, travel, play video games, watch and play sports, and spend time with my friends.

SC

Shai Curtiss

Mentor · Alma College MUN

Shai is a first-year student at Alma College. She is involved in Model United Nations, ACE (Alma Community Engagement Scholarship Program), FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) as the social-media coordinator, the varsity women's wrestling team, and campus admissions as a student tour guide. Through Model UN, Shai has developed valuable skills in public speaking, research, interpersonal communication and persuasion that she believes apply in every area of life. Outside academics and athletics, she enjoys reading, journaling, playing piano, singing, creating social-media content and volunteering across her community.

AD

Alex Detterman

Mentor · Alma College MUN

I enjoy all things outdoors, trying new things and spending quality time with friends and family. At Alma I have been involved in Moot Court, Model United Nations, Fraternity life, Residence life and most recently a spring term in Boston researching at a Presidential Library. Of all the activities, Model UN has been one of the most rewarding because it offers a chance to expand your perspective, improve your communication skills, find your leadership style and collaborate with people from around the world. I'm excited to be mentoring at Yashmay and share a life-changing experience.

CP

Carlos Peña Rivera

Mentor · Alma College MUN

Hi, my name is Carlos Peña. I'm an international student from Colombia going into my second semester at Alma College. During my first year I participated in Model UN, serving as the delegate of Papua New Guinea in GA4 at the conference in St. Louis, Missouri, and later representing Egypt in GA1 at NMUN in New York City. I speak four languages fluently and have always been involved with Rotary International — one of my goals is to found a Rotaract Club at Alma. On campus I'm in Delta Gamma Tau, the Latin U Club, the Pickleball Club and of course Model UN.

NS

Nayonikaa Singhaal

Secretary-General · GMUN India 2026

Nayonikaa is a rising senior at Alma College majoring in Political Science and Economics. Originally from New Delhi, she has been involved in Model UN for over eight years and has been an active member of Alma College's MUN team for the past three. Her academic interests focus on women's empowerment, particularly in the Global South — she has volunteered at a women's shelter in Tanzania and interned at the Consulate General of Canada in Detroit as a Junior Trade Commissioner. On campus, she serves as the President of Student Congress at Alma College.

MW

Madesyn Wheaton

Mentor · Alma College MUN

Hello — I'm Madesyn, a rising senior at Alma College. At Alma I'm involved in Model UN, Alpha Gamma Delta women's fraternity, Residence Life, and the varsity women's wrestling team. Model UN has allowed me to dive deeper into issues I am already passionate about and given me a pathway to understand them outside the context in which I live. It has also let me connect with amazing people from all around the world. In my free time I love to hike, read and play different sports. I am so excited for the opportunity to mentor at Yashmay and share the life-changing experience of Model UN.
